Diamond Head: Located just outside of Honolulu is one
of
Hawaii's most famous landmarks, Diamond Head. The crater is over 100,000 years old and
the name "Diamond Head" was derived when British sailors in the 19th century
found calcite crystals on the slopes and mistook them for diamonds. Inside the
crater you will find the Hawaii National Guard Armory and the F.A.A. Air Route Traffic
Center.
Koko Head:
Driving east from Diamond Head will bring
you to another landmark of Hawaii, Koko Head. This area has several beach parks and
many beautiful ocean front homes.
Hanauma Bay: One of
Hawaii's most popular attractions
and sightseeing spots is Hanauma Bay. The bay is a state conservation district and
receives thousands of people weekly. The bay is accessed by a path which descends
from the parking lot to the spectacular beach below.
Makapuu:
This area is home to several outstanding
beaches and attractions. Makapuu beach is known for it's body surfing, but use
caution as the currents can be very strong. Sea life Park is located adjacent to
Makapuu Beach and is a must see for any marine life enthusiast.
Kailua:
The area of Kailua can be accessed by
following the H-1 highway from Honolulu or taking the Pali Highway from Honolulu. As
with all of the windward coast, there is fantastic coastline with beautiful beaches for
swimming and surfing. You will also find several gardens and tropical valleys
traveling through Kailua.
Windward Coast: The windward coast is home to spectacular
sightseeing and many popular tourist attractions. Located along the coast you will

include Kailua Bay, Heeia State Park and the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Sunset and Pipeline in the winter time, the North Shore is a must on your vacation.
As spectacular as these sights are, there are many beautiful parks and attractions
also. Waimea Falls Park and Puu O Mahuka, Oahu's largest ancient temple are just a
few of the gems that are located on the north Shore.
Waianae Coast:
The scenic and historic Waianae Coast
is usually less traveled than the other parts of Oahu. The area has an "Old
Hawaii" charm to it and has little development. Traveling the Wainae
Coast will
take you through the towns of Makaha, Waianae, Maili, Nanakuli and Makakilo.
Pearl Harbor: Located west of Honolulu is the most
well known attraction and sightseeing location, Pearl Harbor. The navy base is home
to the Arizona Memorial which receives thousands of visitors weekly from all over the
